The New System for Buildings to Survive Powerful Earthquakes.

There is a new system for surviving extremely powerful earthquakes that scientists have been trying to find for a long 10-15 years. But, with all the great ideas for earthquake survival, only Greg Deierlein, a professor at Stanford University who teaches civil and environmental engenering, fused those ideas together.
In this method, the structure is wound by steel-braced frames that are designed to move up and down along with the earthquake's movement. After the shaking stops, elastic steel-tendons move the building back into alignment to ensure that the building doesn't topple over. Near the bottom of the building, steel "fuses" help to prevent any sustainable damage to the building so it doesn't collapse. And because it can be installed into the structure's initial design and can be built from construction materials, it is very economically feasible.
In my opinion, I would still be cautious even if it can withstand tough earthquakes. Who knows? Maybe something might pop off or come loose and then it might fail. But I would try to stay cautious either way.
